8 Steps to Maximize Results At Your Next Trade Show
1. Pre-Promotion
Announce your attendance before the show begins and create excitement about the importance of visiting your booth.
2. Prepare 5 or so interesting, engaging, introductory questions before the show.
Rather than “are you enjoying the show today”? Ask, “How do you use (our product/service) in your business”?
3. Building rapport with your visitors
Smile, be standing, draw them in with an activity, ask open-ended questions and ask permission to follow up! Differentiate yourself by providing prospects with educational material, guides or tips that they would find useful.
4. Use promotional items
Enhance the experience with a unique branded item that will provide residual marketing over the weeks, months and years to come.
5. Collect your visitor information
Remember, regardless of how interesting you or your products were at the time, within minutes of leaving your booth there are many distractions that will take away from your message so be sure to collect information to follow up. Follow up must be done within a week of the show!
6. Be ready to do business
Offer incentives to book a meeting or exclusive show specials with significant savings that can only be taken advantage of the day of the show.
7. Follow up materials
Prepare these ahead of time! Have your promotional piece ready to email, mail or courier as soon as your lead list is sent back to the office. What better way to stand out from your competition?
8. Measure the results
Be sure to track leads to know whether or not the event was a worthwhile endeavor. Mark the prospects from a particular show in your sales database with a field or use promotional codes or landing pages that only show prospects can access. Eg. www.yourcompany.com/tradeshowname
